Who Is
Brian Klepper?

Dr. Klepper consults with health care organizations and business groups to create market visibility that leverages performance, and to take advantage of emerging trends that promise to positively transform both health care quality and cost:
Worksite
clinics that are the most fully
realized examples of medical
homes.
Health
2.0 ventures that use the Web to
facilitate new information that is connected to patients,
clinicians and business managers.
New clinical technologies - e.g., minimally invasive
procedures - that can dramatically reduce complications,
pain, risk and cost.
Value-based insurance designs that incentivize the
benefits we know are high value and disincent the ones we
know are not.
Medical tourism that takes advantage of a
national and global marketplace.
Early in his career Dr. Klepper led a health care
consulting practice that developed or repaired new
companies and programs in all kinds of health care
environments. Then, in 1999, realizing that health care was
headed for massive systemic disruptions, he changed course
to work on reform. That experience allowed him to begin to
understand the deep structural mechanisms that underlie the
crisis, and what it will take to put the system on a stable
footing again.
He serves as Editor for MedPedia, as Editor-at-Large
for Community Oncology, and as one of only
three non-physicians on the International Editorial Board of
Medscape General Medicine, ,
He is also a regular columnist on several of the
best-respected and most widely-read expert health care
blogs - The Health Care
Blog, Health Care Policy and Marketplace
Review, Health Commentary and Health Wonk Review.
He is an Aspen Institute Health Forum
Fellow, and the only
non-physician Board member of the Consortium for Southeastern Hypertension
Control, a group at the
scientific leading edge in managing patients with
vascular disease.
He is a Principal in three firms. Healthcare
Performance provides market analyses
and strategic services to the industry. Health 2.0 Advisors counsels health care
firms on ways to use the Web to facilitate knowledge
exchange, patient engagement, pricing and performance
transparency, transactional streamlining and decision
support. WeCare TLC develops and manages
onsite clinics for employers and other organizations.
Dr. Klepper has provided health care commentary to
CBS
Evening News, the Wall Street
Journal, the New York
Times, and the Washington
Post, and has published
articles in Medscape,
The New
England Journal of Medicine, Modern Healthcare, Business
Insurance, Workforce Management, HealthLeaders
and newspapers
around the country.
